"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Context Behind the Verse
Our worthiness does not measure the depth of God’s love, but by His sacrifice. He did not wait for us to “clean up” or find our own way back to Him. While we were in active rebellion, the Father sent the Son. This is the heart of the Gospel: salvation is a work of divine initiation. Our hope rests not in our ability to hold onto God, but in the reality that He has reached down to us.
Heavenly Father, I stand in awe of a love that sought me out while I was yet a sinner. I submit to Your grace today, laying down my own efforts to be “good enough” and resting entirely in the finished work of Jesus Christ. May Your love be the anchor of my soul. Amen.
