Positioning for a Moment
Esther 4:14 (NIV)
"For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?"
Context Behind the Verse
The words spoken by Mordecai to Esther are some of the most dramatic and destiny-defining in all of Scripture. They force a collision between comfort and calling. When Esther hesitated, Mordecai was blunt: silence at this critical hour would be a profound failure of purpose, yet it would not stop God’s ultimate plan. God would simply move from another place to provide deliverance. Mordecai’s final question is the core of the message: Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this? This is not a reference only to a queen’s position; it applies to every believer. Each of us is placed in a precise location, our families, our jobs, our neighborhoods, by divine appointment. The question is not, why am I here? But what am I here to do for this time? A critical moment is a spiritual assignment. When the critical moment arrives, courage means acknowledging our unique, pre-arranged, and pre-authorized positioning.
Prayer for the Day
Dear Lord, grant me the courage of Queen Esther. Open my heart to see that You have positioned me exactly where I am “for such a time as this.” Strengthen me to step forward with faith when Your moment arrives. Amen.
