The Father's Pleasure
Luke 12:32 (NKJV)
"Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom."
Context Behind the Verse
The fear of the future, especially concerning our livelihood, can be a heavy burden. We worry about providing for our families, about our financial security, and about what will happen if we lose our jobs. In this tender verse, Jesus addresses our deepest anxieties. He calls us His “little flock,” a term of endearment that reminds us of His shepherdly care. He then commands us not to fear, for a very simple and profound reason: it is our Father’s “good pleasure” to give us the kingdom. This is not something we earn; it is a gift that God delights to give us. If God is willing to give us His eternal kingdom, how much more will He provide for our daily needs? This promise should melt away our fears and replace them with a deep sense of security in our Father’s love. We can trust Him with our future, knowing that He cares for us with a perfect, generous love.
Prayer for the Day
Abba Father, thank You for the tender care You show me as part of Your little flock. Help me to let go of my fears about the future and to rest in the knowledge that it is Your good pleasure to give me the kingdom. May I trust in Your generous and loving provision for all my needs. Amen.
