Lamentations 3:22-23

Context Behind the Verse
The book of Lamentations was written during a time of immense suffering and national tragedy, the destruction of Jerusalem and the exile of its people. Despite the overwhelming grief and darkness surrounding him, the author (traditionally Jeremiah) pauses to remind himself of God’s character.
These verses serve as a “hinge” for the entire book, shifting the focus from the surrounding ruin to the internal hope found in God’s consistency. It suggests that even when everything else is lost, God’s mercy is a constant, renewable resource that arrives fresh with the rising sun.
