Courage for the Unknown Way
2 Peter 3:18 (NKJV)
but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
Context Behind the Verse
The Christian life is not static; it is a journey of continuous growth. Peter exhorts us to actively grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. This isn’t a passive reception but an active pursuit. To grow in grace means to increasingly understand and experience the vastness of God’s unmerited favor in our lives, allowing it to transform us from within. Simultaneously, growing in knowledge means deepening our understanding of who Jesus is, His teachings, His character, and His finished work on the cross. These two aspects of growth are intertwined; the more we know Him, the more we appreciate His grace, and the more we experience His grace, the more we desire to know Him. This journey of growth leads us to a greater capacity to give Him glory, not just in some distant future, but right here and now, and for all eternity.
Prayer for the Day
Almighty God, we pray for a hunger to grow daily in Your grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Open our hearts and minds to comprehend more fully Your love and truth. May our lives always bring glory to Your holy Name. Amen.
