The Final Sufficiency

1 Peter 5:10 (NIV)

“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”

Context Behind the Verse

As we conclude this week of reflection on new beginnings, we must acknowledge that starting over is weary work. There are days when the “flesh and heart fail,” and we feel we simply cannot take another step into the new life before us. It is in this very exhaustion that we find the greatest truth of the Christian walk: our strength is not our own. God Himself is the “God of all grace.” He does not merely give us grace; He is the source and the substance of it.

The sudden change that broke your heart was not the final word. The “little while” of suffering is but a prelude to the restoration He has planned. He will not only help you start over; He will “himself restore you.” He will lay the foundation, He will set the pillars, and He will make you “strong, firm, and steadfast.” You are not a victim of circumstance; you are a child of the King, and your story is being written by the hand that holds the stars.

Prayer for the Day

O God of all grace, I thank Thee for Thy sustaining power through this difficult season. I lean my entire weight upon Thee, trusting that Thou wilt restore and strengthen me. May my new beginning be a testament to Thy enduring love. Amen.
