The Gift of Grace
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NASB)
"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."
Context Behind the Verse
Grace is the unmerited favor of God. It is a gift that cannot be earned, bought, or negotiated. If we could work for our salvation, our faith would be a matter of pride. But God, in His infinite wisdom, made salvation a gift so that all glory belongs to Him alone. Faith is simply the empty hand that receives what God has so freely provided through His Son.
Lord God, I thank You that salvation is Your gift and not my achievement. I humble myself before You, acknowledging that I have nothing to offer but my need for Your mercy. Thank You for the peace that comes from knowing my soul is secure in Your grace. Amen.
